ink bottle dropper drawings

...so there I was at my job in the art supply store, feeling creative and having at my side a co-worker not only willing to let me do some portraits of her, but also she is very beautiful - at 3 months pregnant having a lovely glow - and so I got some really nice little drawings!

just blue ink on the matboard, 13x21"

first some washes on matboard, then drawing on top, 14 x 18"

Those were done very fast, using acrylic ink which comes in bottles with dropper caps. I was using the dropper end to draw with instead of brush or pen. Very awkward to control the line that way, but I love the result!

Then did some self-portraits on random pieces of 1/8" plexiglass at the studio:

first painted the back of the plexi red, then drew on the front with black ink.

nice shadow of the drawing

with this one I painted the back blue, scratched the image on the non-painted side, then rubbed black ink into it.

placed just so under the overhead lights

life is life

and portraits done from life are so much more interesting than working from photographs!

training

Went for a bike ride & stopped to try a sketch.
Really loved the apparatus underneath the train cars, and the fact that I could see the landscape between the cars and the track. Unfortunately my plein air painting skills fall short of my vision, and my sketch is a bit clumsy. But what the heck, I like it anyway!
